Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Change

Connecticut State poster revised to update Paid Sick Leave change.

New law requires certain Connecticut employers to notify employees of the new Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Law. Employers may satify this notification requirement by posting this poster in English and Spanish. Only certain employers are required to notify employees of this new law. Generally, it only applies to employers who have employees in certain service industries and who are non-exempt (hourly) employees from the FLSA. An employer must read the broad and detailed occupations and descriptions provided on the following websites; www.bls.gov/soc and http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/wgwkstnd/SickLeaveGuidance.pdf to determine if they are covered.

Statutory language regarding this posting: Public Act #11-52, An Act Mandating Employers Provide Paid Sick Leave to Employees. Effective January 1, 2012. Each employer shall provide paid sick leave annually to each of such employer’s service workers in the state.

Effective Date: January 2012
The new poster will be available December 22, 2011.

This is a mandatory change affecting businesses in Connecticut.
